Due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is now possible to obtain an ED Visa without leaving Thailand!

The Ministry of Education and the Immigration Department have agreed to allow foreign passport holders to change their present visa to an ED Visa without traveling to a Thai consulate in a foreign country. If you have a tourist visa, transit visa or business visa and want to change it to an ED Visa, you can do that here in Thailand.  

There is one very important caveat! Your current visa must have at least 15-days remaining before expiration, at the time your ED Visa application is submitted.

Example 1: Your current visa expires on October 31, 2020 and you submit your application on October 23. NOT ACCEPTABLE! (Because at the time of application there are only 8-days remaining on your current visa.)

Example 2: Your current visa expires on November 10, 2020 and you submit your application on October 24. ACCEPTABLE! (Because at the time of application there are 17-days remaining on your current visa.)
